The epidemic of skin cancer sweeps not only the United States but the entire world. The Foundation's public education programs serve as a stimulus to organizations devoted to skin cancer in many countries. The Foundation's efforts are greatly enhanced by its International Advisory Council. Council members serve as advisors and representatives on the International Alliance Against Skin Cancer, a worldwide coalition of health organizations, medical institutions and professional societies. Its objectives are to urge public health officials throughout the world to place skin cancer education high on their agendas; to be a catalyst for partnerships among the media, pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies, public health organizations and educators; and to conduct and co-sponsor conferences. View a list of members of the International Advisory Council. The Skin Cancer Foundation is committed to stopping skin cancer on a global basis. To that end, the Foundation has emerged as a leader on the international stage by sponsoring two international conferences on skin cancer, the International Dermatology Exchange Program and the World Congress on Cancers of the Skin. The World Congress on Cancers of the Skin is sponsored jointly by The Skin Cancer Foundation and dermatological organizations of the host country. Held in a different country every two years, the Congress allows physicians a unique opportunity to interact with distinguished international faculty and learn about breakthrough discoveries in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of all types of skin cancer. The International Dermatology Exchange Program's educational program has always been highly rated by conference attendees, as has the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas and information with colleagues from around the world.
